Sandy bay is a small holiday town on the south coast of England. I was metal detecting on the beach about thirty years ago when I found a Seiko Sports watch, at the low tide line. The watch obviously had been there for some years as it had corrosion around the bezel and the winder and was still going. When I got home I put it on my desk not sure what to do with it. After about a year I picked the watch and found the corrosion was starting come off. I carefully scraped it off and managed to get the outer ring moving again. I then went to my local watch dealer for a replacement pin for the strap. I am in the building trade and it has taken a few knocks over the years. I have worn this watch every day and still wearing it. Over the years I have two new batteries and still keeps perfect time.

Do you know Hayashi Seiki?

This company is a special watch parts manufacture which makes a Grand Seiko case for Seiko Instrument Inc. for a long time, including the first Grand Seiko's.
This company is located in Fukushima Pref., Japan.

So, the company had huge problems in 3.11 earthquake.

When the enormous earthquake hit, Hayashi Seiki was making a watch case for the 130aniv. Grand Seiko.
Their factory was completely fallen down and destroyed then.

The 1st thing Hayashiseiki did after the quake was digging the cases for the Grand Seiko from ground.
The 2nd thing was rescuing machine tools so that they could move to new factory.

Seiko Instruments Co.,Ltd helped these Hayashi Seiki's efforts a lot.

I have been to dialog in the dark in Tokyo.

1. I perfectly forgot that I was shortsightedness. This feeling was very miracle.
近眼だということをすっかり忘れました。老眼も......。

せいやん　と呼ばれたのはいつ以来かなぁ？
2. I was called by Nickname "Seiyan". It was very comfortable.

笹の香り、水の湧き出る音、祖母の田舎で遊びまわっていたことが頭に浮かびました。
3. I remembered my granma country that had very clean air and I swam in the river and took beatles.....

花粉症の鼻水がたれませんでした。ぽとっ。

なんだか潜在意識に変化が起きているような。帰りのバス、電車の中、電話をかける
いろんな行動で、変化を感じます。

妻に電話するとき、いつもならでないと怒るのに、今日はちゃんと留守電にまで入れられました。

Earthquake 3/12/2011

Yesterday I went to the watch whale seller to pick up watches.
At Tsukiji station as soon as I got off the subway, I felt the huge earthquake.
I thought the subway station will be crumble, I felt horrible.
This was the 1st time to feel horrible about the earthquake.
Some peoples run up from the station and I saw a lot of peoples were on the ground.
Signal lamps were swinging strongly and I could see some buildings were also swinging strongly.

Mobile phone was busy. (email OK SMS OK Phone NG) I could not know the detail of the earthquake.
I tried to go a cafe to check the earthquake detail and my emails.
- the elevator was out of service
- by the stairs I went the the cafe, but closed by earthquake :-(
- iphone battery was dead....
- Almost mobile phone were out of service, so too many people lined to public phone
I waited to start the subway to go home until 19:00
The trains were all stopped, then I found the public bus was available. (too many people to get on)
I get on the bus, and then take a walk 50min. Yesterday it was very cold day......

Now felt the weak erathquake yet.

This is my emergency bag, tivoli radio, victorinox knife....

Tsukiji Fish Market

Today's morning, my wife and I went to Tsukiji Fish Market for taking photos and buying Tuna fish.

This vehicles are in market only. A lot of these vehicle were running.

It was very dangerous for me to take my 35 mm photos.

I changed the camera to my Panasonic LX-3 from 35mm film camera.

Because my 35 mm filme camera

- I have to focusing by myself.

- I have to adjust the shutter speed.

:-(

Beautiful but not I don't like this fish....

This is TSUNA MAGURO celler.

At this shop my wife and I ate stewed beef stomach bowls for breakfast US$ 10.00

Next people drunk beers at 9:00AM, maybe he was the fish market worker.

This was out side of Tsukijimaekt.

I didn't know Tsukiji market well. Today I could see a lot of Shusi restaurants.

Do you know this market will move 10min from my condo by our bicycles 4-5 years later.

This Alba is very good watch.
I often worn this 1st generation watch.
To hot springs, to Hawaii skin diving, Went to Mt Fuji. very cold Hokkaido (-20C)

But I went to San Diego, Coronado, suddenly was stopped. the case back was too tight some watch repair men try to open the case, not open. So I bought Timex Iron man.

Samurai from my Grandpa

This is Samurai 侍 splits, KATANA　刀.

This is our heirloom　家宝 of Kobayashi family.

My Grand father always took this Katana at Japan Army WWII (about 70 years ago more).

Coz Japanese army soldiers were SAMURAI then.

My Grand father never pull out it.

When he passed away he talked to my father "Never go to war"

And my father also talked to me the same words when he passed away.

This sword was made at about 500 years ago (1500-1550??)

The Katana cover is for Japanese army.

And the Katana bag is made my Grand mother.

This Samurai is no water proof for diver. It can not swim.

And not Titanium, not SS. Steel only.

I went to Toyama by air plane from Tokyo Haneda.
On the way to Toyama I could see Mr. Fujisan!!

Today my wife and I went to an old and noble department store "Takashimaya" in Tokyo.
We could enjoy shopping and found fossils.

I could find the fossils of Ammonite, and tried to find Trilobite, but could not.

I put on the Ricoh pan cake lens 45mm.
The film camera out focus is very good.

But too heavy to take this camera & lend weight are 800g.

You can see the thin of the lens. Very good lens!

Now too hard to get.

This Contax T2 film camera has Carl Zeiss lense!!
Film camera is difficult to take photps compare with dijital camera.
But I feel something like mecahnical watches to film camera.
And now we can buy used Contax T2 about US$ 200.00!!
Near future film camera will be revival.....

How to adjust the bracelet (inner C-ring type)

I took pictures how to adjust the bracelet. (inner C-ring type)

For removing the link

You use the pin that indicated by red circle.

Please remove the bracelet from the watch case.( Easier to adjust the bracelet)

Please check arrow on the watch bracelet back.
You put in the tool's pin to the bracelet hall.

Please push the tool from both side.

Then you can see the top of pin.

You pull out the pin by the pliers

When you remove the pin, you can see the ring that indicated by red circle.
Don't miss it.

How to put on the link of the bracelet.

Please push in the ring like the bellow picture.

Put in the pin at the bracelet hall

Push the top of the pin
